HISTORY OF ISS RESOLUTION

147 years ago some technology pioneers started a company and invented the first typewriter, a technology that evolved into the global computer industry as we know it today. Over many decades that same company has evolved into ISS Resolution, providing IT products, solutions, and services to all industries, not only to Thai companies but also to global giants with a presence in Thailand.

ISS Resolution is an ISO certified authorised service provider, authorised reseller, and authorised distributor for local and global IT companies.

1873 - 19051927 - 19461949 - 19531955 - 19641979 - 19841986 - 19891990 - 19951998 - 20002001 - 20092009 - now

1873 E. Remington & Sons introduced the first commercially viable typewriter.

1886 American Arithmometer Co. founded to manufacture and sell first commercially viable adding and listing machine, invented by William Seward Burroughs.

1905 American Arithmometer renamed Burroughs Adding Machine Co.

1927 Remington Typewriter and Rand Kardex merge to form Remington Rand.

1933 Sperry Corporation formed - a holding company for a number of smaller entities such as the original Sperry Gyroscope, Ford Instrument Company, Intercontinental Aviation, Inc., and others. The company produced the company's first digital computer, SPEEDAC, in 1953, the SPErry Electronic Digital Automatic Computer..

1946 J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly invent ENIAC, the world's first large-scale, general-purpose digital computer, developed at the University of Pennsylvania.

1949 Remington Rand produced the 409 - later named as the UNIVAC 60 and UNIVAC 120, the world’s first business computer, and the first computer sold in Japan.

1950 Remington Rand acquired Eckert-Mauchly Computer to become the UNIVAC division of Remington Rand. The first Universal Automatic Computer the UNIVAC 1, an updated version of the ENIAC was delivered to the Census Bureau.

1953 Remington Rand announced the UNIVAC 1103. The successor machine was the UNIVAC 1103A or Univac Scientific, replacing unreliable tube memory with magnetic-core memory.

1955 Sperry and Remington Rand merge to form Sperry Rand - the company developed the successful UNIVAC computer series.

1961 Burroughs introduce the first dual processor and virtual memory computer - the B5000.

1964 UNIVAC 1108 was introduced, the second member of Sperry Rand's UNIVAC 1100 series of computers, replacing thin film memory with integrated circuits.

1979 The UNIVAC 1100/60 was introduced replacing the 1108/1106-based 1100/10 and 1100/20 systems with a new feature: the CPUs used microcode that was loaded during the booting process.

1979 UNIVAC 1100/80 introduced to combine 1100 and 494 systems.

1984 Burroughs launch the A Series Mainframe - A9/A10 B6000 class, first pipelined processor in the mid-range, single CPU (dual on A10).

1986 Sperry launch the 2200 Mainframe.

1986 Sperry Rand and Burroughs merge to form Unisys Corporation.

1989 Unisys Introduces the Micro A Computer directed at small business, bank branch and departmental use, providing the power of a mainframe computer on a desktop. The Single Chip A-series Mainframe Processor is a two-by-two-inch device that packs mainframe power into a single chip.

1990 Siam Unisys formed by joint venture between Yip In Tsoi and Unisys.

1993 Unisys 2200/500 launched - first mainframe to use complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology.

1995 Unisys Hetorogeneous Multi-processing (HMP) - allows Legacy A Series and 2200 Series integration.

1998 Unisys Cellular Multi-Processing - (CMP) - enterprise class environment on Windows NT.

1999 Unisys Thailand formed - subsidiary of Unisys Corporation.

2000 ES7000 launched - Windows 2000 Datacenter support - scaling to 32 processors.

2001 ClearPath Plus Server launched - allows partitioning of resources for varying workloads in real time.

2006 ES7000/one enterprise server launched - allows Windows and LINUX applications to run in one enterprise server.

2009 Unisys Thailand subsidiary divested from Unisys Corporation - renamed ISS Resolution to continue its' support for all existing Thailand operations and the capability to diversify with changing local and global markets.

2009 ...until today, ISS Resolution continues to evolve, and to provide an ever wider range of IT products, solutions, and services to all industries in Thailand from a wide range of global manufacturers and suppliers. ISS Resolution also continues to support global IT technology companies as their authorised service provider, authorised reseller, and authorised distributor in Thailand.
